Offender Treatment Services

What Is The Offender Treatment Services Program?

This program includes the provision of treatment based on a variety of training that JHS staff have received through Correctional Services Canada (including Drug and Alcohol Relapse Prevention and Counter Point). This training has been modified for service provision to individual clients, based on their needs.

How Does The Program Work?

In most cases, these programs are offered in a group format, though depending on the severity of the offence and risk level of the client, one to one counselling can be made available. These session can change to bi-weekly or monthly as the client progresses. If there are relapses or a client has their parole revoked (by their parole officer) temporarily, treatment can last up to one year or more.

There are no set number of sessions that must be completed. Referrals are made to community resources to assist the participant in overcoming identified barriers to their pro-social living in the community.

Most participants in this program are mandated, however, some participants attend through their own desire to learn better coping strategies.

Who Is Eligible?

  • The program is open to CSC parolees as well as other community members, there is a fee for service based on a sliding scale for community members
  • Individuals who are assessed as being high risk for re-offending and living anti-social lifestyles are candidates for the program.

Funding for this program is provided by Correctional Services Canada and by individual users fees.
